- Halifax, July 13.
Extract of a letter from St. John, N.B., dated July 3. "The immense flocks of Pigeons which have passed over this place within these few days far exceed any thing of the kind in the recollection of the oldest inhabitants. They are so tame that they roost on the rigging of the ships in the harbor; they are already destroying the Buckwheat, and our farmers will doubtless suffer severely by this visit. The people here catch them in nets, 90 or 100 at a time.August 8, 1822. Halifax. Connecticut Mirror 14(7): 3.
