North Carolina Woods Crowded with Wild Pigeons

The woods in North Carolina have been overrun with wild pigeons. The Raleigh Register of the 19th says: —

The woods are crowded with myriads of these birds — so large a number never having been before seen in this section of the country. We have heard of one flock so large that, when roosting, they cover an are of two miles in length, and one in breadth.
